Favorite Music, Artists, Genres:

All music really! But some favourites are: William Russo, Frank Zappa, Louis Andriessen, Howard Shore, Duke Ellington, Gil Evans. And quite a few rock bands as well.
Favorite Books, Writers, Genres:

Fantasy and non-fiction. LOTS of non-fiction on a daily basis. Anything relating to the theoretical and technical aspects of music.

Lord of the Rings trilogy, Forrest Gump, historical films. anything to do with World War II.

The tv is switched on a lot, but I can't say I really watch anything....
